Show Notes Chapter Markers

Even the most important book in history  - the gospel of Mark - is not safe from the wave of mutilation that is BORN IN THE SECOND CENTURY. The writing that hauled a god down to earth will itself be hauled into a bin labelled "fake second century legends."

Anyone who listens to this episode can learn about how the gospel of Mark was written half a century later than the scribes are saying. "Mark" invented a life for Jesus, but his volatile, conniption-throwing Christ is nothing more than a truncheon that he used to whack his sectarian enemies. Host Chris Palmero will discuss when, where, and why Mark was written, the earliest evidence for Mark in the literary and archaeological record, its many embarrassing anachronisms, and why it should be declared late and spurious.
